Select the version number of the software package that you have
currently installed in your system. If it is not on this menu,
there may not be an enhanced display driver to support your
version of software. Consult our Customer Support representative.
If you have not yet installed the application software onto your
hard drive, exit to DOS, install the software from the original
software package, and run this installation program again.
72
Select the resolution/number of colors you desire. Take an
example:
800x600 (16) mode 54
means a display mode (numbered 54 in hex) with a screen size
of 800 dots (horizontal) by 600 dots (vertical) in 16 colors.
Note that not all of the available drivers may be installed,
due to the fact that either your display adapter (e.g. the
lack of display RAM) or your monitor does not support the
driver of your choice. In this case, select the driver with
lower resolution and/or fewer number of colors.
75
This entry should contain a full path to an EXISTING directory
in this format:
d:\dirname
where d is the drive letter; dirname is the directory name
starting from the root (i.e. the leading "\" must be present).
The driver and related files will be copied to this directory.
79
Enter the batch file name with full path in this format:
d:\dirname\filename
where d: is the drive letter; dirname is the directory name
starting from the root (i.e. the leading "\" must be present);
filename is the full file name (i.e. with extension, if any).
Note that the batch file must already exist.
81
This display adapter supports various display modes. Select
the resolution/number of colors you desire. Take an example:
800x600 (16) mode 54
means a display mode (numbered 54 in hex) with a screen size
of 800 dots (horizontal) by 600 dots (vertical) in 16 colors.
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
82
The driver requires a unique interrupt vector. If the default as
shown is used by another application, press <Enter> to type in a
different interrupt vector.
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
83
The display driver supports either a black background or a white/gray
background.
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
84
AutoCAD supports single- and dual-screen modes. In single-
screen mode, all drawing and text go to one screen. In dual-
screen mode, two monitors are used, one for drawing, the
other (usually a monochrome monitor) for command/text display.
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
85
This field is useful only when Screen Mode setting is set for
"Single Screen". "Graphics" information is saved, either to
the system memory (Default) or to a file, when the user switches
between graphics and text displays.
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
86
This field is useful only when Screen Mode setting is set for
"Single Screen". "Rendering" information is saved, either to
the system memory (Default) or to a file, when the user switches
between graphics and rendering displays in single-screen mode.
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
87
When a pull-down window appears, the area of the drawing
beneath it is saved, either to the system memory (Default)
or to a file.
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
88
You must provide which drive the temporary file is to be saved to,
when any of the following settings is set for "Save to file":
Graphics Display
Rendering Display
Pull-Down Menus
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
89
EMS memory is required for using Display List feature. This
entry indicates the amount of Expanded Memory available for
use by the Display List driver.
When all entries on this menu are correct, press <F10> to install
the selected driver.
90
This entry should contain a full path to an EXISTING directory
where your application software resides, in this format:
d:\dirname
where d is the drive letter; dirname is the directory name
starting from the root (i.e. the leading "\" must be present).
The driver and related files will be copied to this directory.
If you have not yet installed the application software onto your
hard drive, exit to DOS, install the software from the original
software package, and run this installation program again.
91
A unique interrupt vector is required by the display driver in
the range from 40 to 7F (hex). If the number as shown is used
by another application (e.g. the NOVELL network may use 7B),
edit it to get the appropriate number and press <Enter> to
accept the change.
Do not experiment with this feature unless you are very
familiar with IBM PC software standards as this may cause
problems.
92
Select the desired resolution/number of colors. Take an example:
800x600 (16) DspList
means a display mode with a screen size of 640 dots (horizontal)
by 480 dots (vertical) in 256 colors, featuring Display List
capability, which greatly improves the speed of REDRAW operation.
To make use of the Display List feature, you must have Expanded
Memory in your system and enter the amount of Expanded Memory on
the Driver Configuration Menu.
93
Select either a black background or a white/gray background.
94
In single-screen mode, all drawing and text share the same screen.
However, if you have, in addition to this display adapter and monitor,
a monochrome display adapter and a monochrome monitor, you can select
dual-screen mode to display the drawing on one screen, the command
prompt and the menu bar on the other. Prior to running AutoCad, be
sure that the default video mode is VGA COLOR.
95
"Graphics" information is saved when the user switches between
graphics and text displays in single-screen mode.
■ DEFAULT - The driver will save the graphics information
in a reserved memory location
■ SAVE TO FILE - The driver will write the graphics
information to a temporary file on the drive specified
on the Driver Configuration menu.
96
"Rendering" information is saved when the user switches between
graphics and rendering displays in single-screen mode.
■ DEFAULT - The driver will save the rendering information
in a reserved memory location
■ SAVE TO FILE - The driver will write the rendering
information to a temporary file on the drive specified
on the Driver Configuration menu.
97
When a pull-down window appears, the area of the drawing
beneath it is saved.
■ DEFAULT - The driver will save the area covered by the
pull-down window to a reserved memory location
■ SAVE TO FILE - The driver will save the area covered by
the pull-down window to a temporary file on the drive
specified on the Driver Configuration menu.
98
If you set Graphics Display, Rendering Display or Pull-Down Menus
settings for "Save to file", all temporary files will be saved
to the root directory of the drive as shown on this entry. It can
be a hard disk or a RAM disk.
The drive must be big enough to store the temporary file. The
following table shows the amount of disk space required: (in KB)
Resolution Pull down Graphics Rendering
#color menu display display
------------ --------- -------- ---------
800x600 16 470KB 235KB 235KB
640x400 256 500KB 250KB 250KB
640x480 256 600KB 300KB 300KB
800x600 256 938KB 469KB 469KB
1024x768 256 1536KB 768KB 768KB
1024x768 16 768KB 384KB 384KB
1024x768 4 384KB 192KB 192KB
For example, to save pull down menu, graphics display and
rendering display in 800x600 16-color mode, you need 940KB
(470KB + 235KB + 235KB) of disk space.
Enter a single drive letter.
99
This entry indicates the amount of Expanded Memory configured in
increments of 64KB, starting from 256KB up to 16MB. Any number
entered will be adjusted rounded down to the highest 64KB. A zero
will disable EMS usage.
